Manikadavu, in and around- Local News


A seminar to discuss suggestions for the integrated development of Kanjirakolli Tourism Zone and to formulate a “vikasana rekha” was convened today (18-07-11) at Kader Haji Memorial U.P.School, Kanjirakolli by Valley Life Research and Development Initiative, Manikadavu in association with District Tourism Promotion Council, Kannur.
The seminar was attended by Grama panchayat members, social workers, and representatives of political parties, social and religious organizations and tribal communities of the Kanjirakolli Tourism zone. Rev. Fr. Shinto Alappattu welcomed the participants and the honorable guests. Sri C. P. Jose, President, Payyavur Grama Panchayat, presided over the function and Sri Benny Thomas, President, Ulikkal Grama Panchayat inaugurated the function. The draft of proposals for discussion was presented by P. M. John, Chairman, Valley Life. Sri Kunjiraman, Deputy Director, Tourism Department was the chief guest. He assured to extend whole hearted cooperation to the development of Kanjirakolli as a major ecotourism centre of the district. He emphasized the importance of Kanjirakolli as an important destination point for monsoon tourism. The mist and rain adds much to the scenic beauty, he added. DTPC will prepare a master plan and projects for the development of Kanjirakolli Tourism Zone. The Presidents of Payyavur and Ulikkal Grama Panchayats also assured to do their level best for the promotion of the tourism prospective of Kanjirakolli. All the participants actively involved in the discussions. Sri M.J.George Master, Convener, ecotourism cell of Valley Life expressed vote of thanks.
Earlier to the seminar Sri Kunjiraman, Deputy Director, Tourism Department and DTPC officials visited Sasippara and Alaka Falls.
